Electrochemistry for Sensors and Energy
Ariel L. Furst, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at MIT, will be giving this talk.
Electrochemistry is an exceptionally powerful tool to form chemical bonds and monitor chemical and biological interactions. By improving the chemistry used to assemble biomolecules on electrode surfaces, the selectivity and sensitivity of these devices has been significantly improved.
By combining improved chemistries for biomolecule modification with unique signal amplification strategies, we have successfully detected targets from extremely complex solutions and improved current generation in microbial fuel cells.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reference Electrode Care Overview
Proper reference electrode care must be taken to ensure continued accurate measurements. The tip of the reference electrode is porous glass frit or electro porous KT glass (opaque white). The frit allows ionic transport into the electrode. In order to operate properly the frit must always be kept wet with electrolyte.
