Abstract

The improvement of interfacial adhesion between inorganic compositions and light metals has traditionally been discussed as a key issue in the surface treatments of metal plates. Here, we propose a straightforward one-step low temperature interfacial plasma electrolysis (LT-PE) method in alkaline-phosphatase electrolyte to prepare highly stable inorganic particles (WO3, AlF3 and MoO3) on a defective TiO2 surface. The conformal inorganic layer in this work exhibits protective features on account of a synergy between the inorganic particles and a titanium oxide on the titanium surface. Finally, the electrochemical results of potentiodynamic polarization test exhibited that the anti-corrosion of the inorganic layers was obviously enhanced upon the incorporation of insoluble inorganic compounds of WO3, AlF3 and MoO3 into coating during LT-PE process.
