Abstract
Rechargeable Li metal battery is an important option for the systems which required high energy densities, but it confronts some great issues, such as the potential formation of Li dendrites. Li-B alloy has been proven to be a potential alternative choice in lithium batteries, but the coulombic efficiency is still unacceptable. In this study, an artificial SEI layer was prepared on the surface of Li-B alloy using a simple method. Results infer the artificial layer may help to form a more stable SEI layer with consuming fewer lithium ions, which greatly improve the initial coulombic efficiency and the cycling stabilities. These results suggest that Li-B alloy with artificial solid electrolyte interphase layer may be a promising anode material for rechargeable lithium batteries.
