Abstract

This study compares the effect of sintering temperature and aluminide (Ni3Al and Fe3Al) additions on the densification and electrochemical response of ferritic (434L) stainless steels. The densification of straight as well as aluminide-reinforced 434L stainless steels increases with increase in the sintering temperature. Supersolidus sintered straight 434L stainless steels and 434L stainless steel–aluminide composites exhibit better corrosion resistance as compared with solid-state sintered compacts.
